In our Monday post, we noted that 16,582 had early voted. However, mail in ballots are still coming in (deadline is tomorrow). And in this case, 491 have early voted since Monday.
Those voters have a 53/45% black.white racial split. These mail in ballots won’t have much impact on the racial breakdown of the early vote (the black percentage of the early votes has decreased from 68 to 67% – a very small drop in the bucket), but it’s still worth noting.
We believe at this point, Lieutenant Governor Mitch Landrieu is in the drivers seat, but since you have potentially over 10% of the vote already cast, it’ll be interesting to see how those numbers color the final vote Saturday night.
