New Orleans Mayor’s race
The City of New Orleans is having a Mayor’s race with a February 6 primary and a March 6 runoff, if necessary. What has been interesting is that while early voting has been going on for the past week (today is the last day), the early voting not only has been strong (12529 have early voted as of last night), but has been strongly black (the black/white split of the early voters has been 67/29%, as opposed to the 62/31% split on the voter rolls as of 1/4/2010). For historical perspective, 16,912 early voted for the 2008 Presidential race in Orleans Parish, and 73% of those early voters were black.
More to come……..
