RED/BLUE RATING (using 2008, 2012, and 2014 elections): 78% Republican

JMCEL’s SUMMARY: House District 24 is a historically Democratic district that moved noticeably towards the Republicans in recent years (no Democrat has gotten more than 17% of the vote between 2010-2014), and was one of several rural districts that finally flipped to the Republican Party in the 2007 election cycle. The current representative is “Frankie” Howard, who won the 2007 runoff with 53% of the vote, and he was unopposed in 2011. He is allowed to seek one more term. He should not have re-election problems, although the fact that the district is spread out among three parishes creates the potential for opposition from a fellow Republican from one of the other two parishes.
