RED/BLUE RATING (using 2008, 2012, and 2014 elections): 81% Republican

JMCEL’s SUMMARY: House District 43 is one of the most affluent and Republican districts in the state, although it surprisingly has not had a long and consistent history of electing Republicans to the Legislature. Two of its former representatives (Mike Michot and Page Cortez) have used this seat as a stepping stone to the state senate, and the current representative (Stuart Bishop) was elected to the open seat in 2011 without opposition, and is allowed to serve two more terms.
