JMCEL’s SUMMARY: House District 76 is located in suburban Saint Tammany Parish, although it includes some of Sidell’s older suburban neighborhoods. Politically, it is a Republican friendly district that was one of the first legislative districts to elect Republicans, which it has consistently done since a former legislator switched parties in 1979. Its current legislator is Kevin Pearson, who was narrowly elected in the 2007 runoff, and was unopposed in 2011. He is allowed to seek one more term, and is likely to be a safe bet for re-election.
